ISLAMABAD – Pakistan registered significant progress on International Travel and Tourism Development Index 2021 issued by the World Economic Forum (WEF).
The index, which includes 117 countries, was topped by Japan while the second and third place was secured by the US and Spain, respectively.
The index ranks the countries based on the set of factors and policies that enable the sustainable and resilient development of the travel and tourism industry of each country.
Managing Director of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation, Aftab ur Rehman Rana, said Pakistan was stood at 89th place in 2019 and it has now ranked 83rd in the global index.
He said that Pakistan made a significant progress in tourism sector and the recent ranking endorses it.
